Carriage Services, Inc. (“we” “our” or “us”) respects the privacy of our website visitors. Our Mission to being the most professional, ethical, and highest quality funeral and cemetery service organization in the death care industry extends to this Privacy Policy (“Policy”), and we want to ensure that our website visitors know how we collect, use, and protect personal, and other, information. This Policy applies to www.carriageservices.com and any website or application (as well as any features, widgets, plug-ins, content, downloads or other services) that posts a link to this page (collectively, the “Site”).
This Policy applies to all personal information provided by Site users, including personal information collected from mobile applications, personal computers, browsers, laptops, tablets, mobile phones, or other devices (“Devices”). This Policy does not apply to personal information that Site visitors provide directly to a business partner or third party, even if such business partner or third party is linked to our Site.
When you use our Site, you agree to the Policy that follows. In addition to reading this Policy, please review our Terms of Service which governs your use of our Site.

Information We Collect
It is optional for you to utilize the Site and to provide personal information. You may, however, be required to provide certain personal information when you elect to use certain products of services available on the Site. Products or services available may include: (a) sending us an email message; (b) contacting us via online forms; (c) signing up for obituary updates; or (d) submitting your credit card or other payment information when ordering and purchasing products and services. Our use of your information may include, but is not limited to, communicating with you in relation to services and/or products you may be interested in. We strive to take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or alteration of personal information. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet or any wireless network can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, you acknowledge that: (a) there are security and privacy limitations inherent to the Internet which are beyond our control; and (b) security, integrity, and privacy of any and all information and data exchanged between you and us through this Site cannot be guaranteed.
Visitor Provided Information
In certain parts of the Site, we may ask you to provide us with your name or other information so that we can provide you with information you request or take other action indicated in the part of the Site where the information is requested. You are under no obligation to provide us with this information, but without it, we may not be able to take the action requested. The Site also includes features that allow you and us to communicate by electronic mail, text message, or otherwise.
If you choose to use these features, you will be required to provide us your e-mail address and/or other personal information (such as your name, phone number, or street address) we may deem necessary to communicate with you electronically, by text message, or otherwise, or review your request. You may also give us Information about other people, including a spouse, parent, child, other family member, or friend. We only use this information for the specific reason for which you provide it to us. By submitting information about any third party, you represent and warrant to us that you have the consent of the third party to do so, and that the information you submit is factually accurate.
Note: personal information included in any portion of an online tribute, guest book, and condolence, for example, is publicly available, and this Policy does not apply to that information. When buying flowers, users may be given the options to choose to publish the name and card message, publish the name only, or publish neither the name nor the card message. Please visit our Terms of Service here for more information on our policy for user generated content on our Site.
Please note that we use a PCI-DSS compliant third-party payment processor and so we do not store information about your payment card and cannot use that information as a reference to identify you. Information submitted for payment processing is subject to the privacy policy of our third-party payment processor.
We do not share any personal information with anyone outside our Company, except: (1) to allow third parties to process payment for purchases of tributes, like flowers, (2) when publishing obituaries, guest books, condolences page postings, or other messages intended for online publication, (3) for Google Analytics and Customers.ai services (explained in more detail below), and (4) for vendors related to the operation of our business and the Site as described further in this Policy.
The types of information we may collect are, among other things:
- your name;
- email address;
- address or postal code;
- telephone number; and
- if you purchase flowers or other tributes, we may collect credit card number, expiration date and authentication codes or other necessary financial data for processing those purchases.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies
In addition to any information that you choose to submit to us via our Site, we and our third-party service providers may use a variety of technologies that automatically (or passively) store or collect certain information whenever you visit or interact with our Site (“Usage Information”). This Usage Information may be stored or accessed using a variety of technologies that may be downloaded to your device whenever you visit or interact with our Site. To the extent we associate Usage Information with your personal information, we will treat it as personal information.
In addition, you may get cookies from other companies that have a link on our Site, but we have no control over these companies’ cookies. These third-party cookies do not fall under our Policy.
This Usage Information may include:
- your IP address, UDID or other unique identifier (“Device Identifier”). A Device Identifier is a number that is automatically assigned to your Device used to access our Site, and our computers identify your Device by its Device Identifier;
- your device functionality (including browser, operating system, hardware, mobile network information);
- the URL that referred you to our Site;
- the areas within our Site that you visit and your activities there, including remembering such visit and activities;
- your device location;
- your device characteristics; and
- certain other device data, including the time of day, among other information.
(A) Tracking Technologies:
We may utilize the services offered by Customers.ai through its website (www.customers.ai), applications and software, mobile application, and components, which collects and discloses both personal and non-personal information of Site users through the use of tracking, cookies, and pixel tags (“Tracking Technologies”); and the information collected may be used to obtain an email address or other identifying information from such Site user. Where you visit or use our Site, in any manner, we may use these Tracking Technologies to associate your usage of our website with an associated email. Where applicable, we may contact you via such associated email address. If you wish to opt out of these services, please visit: https://customers.ai/opt-out. Tracking Technologies may set, change, alter or modify settings or configurations on your Device. A few of the Tracking Technologies include, without limitation, the following (and subsequent technology and methods later developed):
- Cookies. A cookie is a data file placed on a device when it is used to visit our Site. HTML5 cookies can be programmed through HTML5 local storage.
- Web Beacons/Pixels. Small graphic images or other web programming code called web beacons (also known as “pixels,” “1×1 GIFs”. or “clear GIFs”) may be included in our Site’ pages and messages. Web beacons may not be readily visible to you, but any electronic image or other web programming code inserted into a page or e-mail can act as a web beacon. Usage Information is typically anonymous information, since it is not normally associated with you or your identity. However, if it is combined with your Personal Information in a manner that it is directly associated with your identity it will be treated as Personal Information under this Privacy Policy.

We may use Tracking Technologies for a variety of purposes, including:

How to Access and Control Your Information Based on Your Residence

In some instances, we may not be able to honor your request. We will advise you in our response if we are not able to honor your request within 45 days. Use of Personal Information
In the past 12 months, we have used Personal Information relating to California residents to operate and manage our business, to provide our products and services, and to accomplish our business purposes and objectives, including the following:
- Performing services, including maintaining or servicing customer accounts, providing customer service, processing transactions, verifying customer information, processing payments, providing financing, providing advertising or marketing services, providing analytic services, or providing similar services.
- Complying with laws and regulations and to comply with other legal process and law enforcement requirements (including any internal policy based on or reflecting legal or regulatory guidance, codes or opinions)
Do Not Sell My Personal Information/Notice of Right to Opt Out
Under the CCPA, the ‘sale’ of your Personal Information means the sharing of your personal information with certain third parties. Under CCPA, consumers have the right to direct a business that sells Personal Information about the consumer to third parties not to sell the consumer’s Personal Information. Currently, we share your Personal Information in a manner that would be considered a sale under CCPA. Further, we disclose your Personal Information to our Service Providers pursuant to contracts that prohibit the Service Provider from using your personal information for any purpose other than those services specified in the contract.
